Sheffield’s city-wide celebration of independent beer culture sets its sights on showcasing the simple joys and highlighting the glorious local beer scene, from
8–14 March 2027.

SHEFFIELD, UK — Sheffield Beer Week is back for 2027, taking over pub snugs, brewery taprooms, cosy beer shops, indie bars and more across the city from Monday 8th March to Sunday 14th March 2027.

Started in 2015 when the city set out to show the wider brewing world what makes the Steel City tick, Sheffield Beer Week has grown into a cornerstone of the UK’s beer calendar. Over the last decade, the festival has championed everything from historic pub and brewing heritage and superb beer and food pairings to running clubs, Sheffield’s synth music heritage, and vibrant brewing collaborations.

For 2027, Sheffield Beer Week is stripping things back to focus on one simple truth: the unadulterated joy of life’s simple pleasures. At the heart of this year’s week-long celebration is a return to the fundamentals—the simple, grounding satisfaction of sitting in your local, whether it be a brewery taproom, pub, micropub, bar, or beer shop and taking time to relax and savour life. It could be solo with a book, it could be with friends, it could be with family, it could be with your dog buddy, but it’ll always be with a brilliant glass of indie beer in hand.

In a world that often moves too fast, the 2027 edition shines a spotlight on the warmth of Sheffield’s unique hospitality culture: the quiet low hum of friendly conversation, the timeless craftsmanship behind fine local ale, and the brilliant indie breweries and venues that serve as the heartbeat of our communities. In addition Sheffield Beer Week recognises the production and serving of cask ale as part of this city’s ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage’ (if UNESCO were to ask us?!?).

“From our early days highlighting the city’s beer scene to deep-dives into music, heritage, and brewing, Sheffield Beer Week has always been about community,” says festival founder and coordinator Jules Gray. “For 2027, we want to celebrate the purest form of that experience. There’s nothing quite like pulling up a stool in a wood-panelled snug, enjoying a delicious glass of fresh cask ale, and savouring the moment. It’s a simple pleasure, but it’s one of the best life has to offer, I believe”
