Sheffield Hallam University student beer-focused group, Hallam Hops, are hosting a beer dinner at BrewDog. The event, Sip, Sip Hooray!, will be working in partnership with local charity, The Cathedral Archer Project, who offer great support to homeless and vulnerable people within Sheffield. Sip, Sip Hooray’s main focus is to offer an educational approach to drinking beer accompanied with a marriage of different flavours within food. The event includes four taster courses, each accompanied by a generous craft beer sample to enable you to discover new flavours and excite your taste buds. Beeches of Walkley host a beer, cheese and ale sausages sampling day at their award winning farm shop. A big thanks to True North Brew Co for hosting us in their new brew house and tap room very early in its launch. The current space is a work in progress and is in the first phase of redevelopment. In the 1830’s the Ecclesall Turnpike and River Porter saw rapid growth of new breweries, industry and pubs aided by the new Beerhouse Act.  This guided tour visits Welbeck’s micro-scale Portland House and Wetherspoon’s Sheaf Island. Both serve some of Sheffield’s best beers. We will also see the location and hear the history of three Sheffield breweries: Old Albion, Wheatley and Bates and the much loved Wards. With photographs, memorabilia and stories.
